William "Bill" Sanford Short (1934-2005)

William "Bill" Sanford Short, age 71, of Ashland, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, in Oakmont Manor Nursing Facility after an extended illness.

Mr. Short was born Jan. 12, 1934, in Flatwoods, Ky., and was the son of the late Carl and Anna Mae McCoy Short and stepson of the late Mabel Short.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl Short Jr.; and two sisters, Frankie Maxine Gibbs and Anna Lee Clark.

He was a retired meat cutter with Craycraft Foodland in Catlettsburg, Ky., and had worked for Penny Fair & Evans Market. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of Ironville Enterprise Baptist Church.

Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Anna Louise Daniels Short of Ashland; a son, Darrell Kent Short of Ashland; a brother, Gary (Phyllis) Short of South Shore, Ky.; a sister, Gloria Jean (Gilbert) Waugh of Flatwoods; stepbrothers, Roger Glancy of Raceland, Ky., Paul Allen Glancy of Florida and Clyde Fields of Ashland; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Pruitt of Flatwoods.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Jack Salyers and the Rev. Charles Rice. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens with military rites by Ironton VFW Post 8850.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Uncle Bill , We love you and will miss you !! But I know that your in heaven with the angels, Nanny( Anna Lee), Sissy (Frankie) and Great Papaw Short and my sister Lisa! Can't wait to see you all again.. May you and your family rest in peace and in the lords love..
