Homer Reynolds, 82, of Catlettsburg, Ky., formerly of Allen, Ky., died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, in Lexington, Ky.

He was born June 19, 1923, in Floyd County, Ky., a son of the late Jeff and Matilda Hamilton Reynolds.

He was also preceded in death by five sisters and seven brothers.

He was a retired ironworker and a member of Ironworkers Local 769 of Ashland, Ky., and Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Johnson Reynolds of Catlettsburg; one son, Dr. Roy D. Reynolds and his wife, Judy of Franklin, Ky.; two daughters, Gwendolyn R. Webb of Lexington, Ky., and Barbara Sue Reynolds of Pikeville, Ky.; four sisters, Maudie Meade of Dayton, Ohio, Joan Reynolds of Canton, Ohio, Ruby Akers of Dayton, Ohio, and Madge Spurgeon of Paintsville, Ky.; and three grandchildren, Alan Reynolds of Bowling Green, Ky., Tasha Harilson of Nicholasville, Ky., and Monica Webb of Lexington.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Paul Badgett. Burial will be in Davidson Memorial Gardens in Ivel, Ky., with military graveside rites by Big Sandy Chapter 18 DAV of Auxier, Ky.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
