William Thomas "Tom" Grossl Jr., 62, of Ashland, Ky., died Aug. 7, 2005, in Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
He was born Sept. 14, 1942, in Ashland, a son of the late William T. and Rachel Hurst Grossl.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Trusty.
He was retired from AK Steel in the pipe shop and was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, the Masonic lodge, El Hasa Shrine and Ashland Elks Lodge 350. He was a Babe Ruth baseball coach and active in the Boy Scouts and was an avid Marshall University sports fan.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are a brother, Richard A. "Tony" Grossl and his wife, Rose, of Ashland; nephews David Cannoy and his wife, Tammy, and Tim Cannoy and his wife, Christy, all of Ashland; several great-nephews; nieces Kimberly Griffith and her husband, Danny, of Sadieville, Ky., and Erin Slone and her husband, Chris, and Bailey Grossl, all of Ashland; and several great-nieces.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Jim Nichols. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at the funeral home.
