We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Johnnie Lee Stephens, 65, of Mount Sterling, Ky., formerly of Ashland, Ky., in Mount Sterling on Aug. 28, 2005, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Stephens was the wife of Russell Otto Stephens of Mount Sterling for 48 years.

Mrs. Stephens was also the caring mother to children Debra Waldrop of Dallas, Russell Otto Stephens Jr. of Mount Sterling and Brook R. Stephens of Fort Myers, Fla.; and a wonderful grandmother to Stephen, Ellen, McKenzee and Madison. She is also survived by a brother, Dennis Johnson of Ashland; two sisters, Marlene Cantrell of Flatwoods, Ky., and Rita Crisp of Ashland; and many nieces and nephews.

Johnnie was a dedicated member of the Antioch Christian Church.

Visitation will be tonight, Aug. 30, from 6 to 8, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Pastor Tom Burbrink. The service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park, U.S. 60 West, Ashland.

Otto and family, We are so sorry about your loss. Johnnie was always admired by me as being one of the cutest girls at BCHS. We were so saddened to see Johonnie had passes away this morning. We are also sorry we cannot be in Ashland today for her funeral. Otto, you and Johnnie were like parents to us during a very difficult time. We will never forget your love and support.
