June Moore Tackett, 80, of Flatwoods, Ky., passed away Sunday in Woodland Oaks Nursing Home following an extended illness.

She was born June 8, 1925, a daughter of the late Solomon Moore and Easter Nunley Moore Lester. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse; two sisters, Mary Moore Chapman of South Point, Ohio, and Lucy Moore Brown McCoy of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and one brother, Frank Moore of Ashland.

Surviving are two daughters, Jessica Mays and her husband, James of Ashland, Ky., and Jennifer Fraley and her husband, Robert of Catlettsburg, Ky.; two sons, Danny and his wife, Sharon Knipp Tackett of Ashland and Donald and his wife, Chlotene Slone Tackett of Boyd County, Ky.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Diane and her husband, Mike Miller of Ashland, Joe Mays of Ashland, Scott and Apryl Tackett of Rogersville, Tenn., Tracy Tackett of Cannonsburg, Ky., and Michael Tackett of Flatwoods.

June also had seven great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a brother, Herb Jr. and his wife, Wanda Lester of Catlettsburg; and a sister, Maude Riggs of Ceredo-Kenova, W.Va.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel, 3409 13th St., Ashland by the Rev. Gary Arrington. Burial will be in Lester Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, Kentucky Region, 333 Guthrie St., Sutie 207, Louisville, KY 40202 or the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter, 1065 Dove Run Road, Lexington, KY 40502.
