Carl Oliver, 78, of Ashland, Ky., died suddenly on Sept. 12, 2005, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
He was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Greenup County, Ky., a son of the late Kenny Oliver and Mollie Patton Oliver Moore.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Oliver; twin sons, Harold and Herman Oliver; and a sister, Jewell Oliver.
Mr. Oliver was former owner and operator of the Coal Grove, South Point and Raceland Coin and Laundromats, as well as other family businesses. He was a private contractor and home builder and former clerk at C&O Railway.
He was a 40-year member of Unity Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, deacon and supervised the building of the church's Family Life Center.
Surviving are a son, Ken Oliver and his wife, Diana of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Beverly Carr and her husband, Larry of Ashland; a sister, Ruth Mann of Morristown, Tenn.; two brothers, Wick Moore and his wife Linda of Lexington and Lloyd Moore and his wife Karen of Ashland; and grandchildren, Regina Spencer and her husband, Mike, Bobby Carr and Bethany Carr.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Floyd Paris. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight, Sept. 14, 2005, at the funeral home.
