Jack S. Vance, age 70, of Grayson, Ky., formerly of Ashland, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005.

He was born Oct. 16, 1934, in Ashland, a son of the late T.J. Vance and Kathleen Salisbery Vance.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Tamera Dawn and Cassie Melinda Vance; one brother, Bob Vance; and three sisters, Doris Felty, Tommy Manning and Betty Beitel.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Race Vance of Ashland; his children, Greg (Karen) Vance of Amelia, Ohio, Jack B. (Karen) Vance of London, Ky., Jacqueline S. (Troy) Muncy Jr. of Bardstown, Ky., Daniel A. (Tammy) Vance of Dry Ridge, Ky., and Shawn T. (Nikki) Vance of Ashland.

He was blessed with 10 wonderful grandchildren, Leandra, Shane, Jourdan, Jack, Caroline, Aaron, Katelyn, Bren, Makayla and Katrina.

He was an employee of CSX for 44 years and a member of Meade Station Church of God and was also a member of Poage Masonic Lodge No. 325 F&AM.

In honor of Jack S. Vance, there will be a funeral ceremony at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Rob Jordan.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Linda Thomas Scholarship Fund, c/o Meade Station Church of God, 1315 Marsh Hill Drive, Ashland, KY 41102.

Nancy We are so sorry for your loss. We are also so greatful for Heavens gain. God allowed you to make peace and to take place in a soul saving mission.
