Rolland M. "Red Pup" Stambaugh, 57, of Ashland, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, in King's Daughters Medical Center following a sudden illness.
He was born Dec. 11, 1947, in Ashland, a son of the late James and Cleopatra Franks Stambaugh. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Stambaugh and Okie Stambaugh; and two sisters, Hedy Sue Guthridge Cleland and Rozella Stapleton.
He was a retired AK Steel Coke Plant employee. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, attended Catlettsburg First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of Poage Masonic Lodge 325, F&AM. He was a Hillcrest-Bruce United Methodist Ministries Board member and a Kentucky colonel.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Puchta Stambaugh of Ashland; two sons, Rolland Jr. (Rosemary) Stambaugh and Brian (Cassie) Stambaugh, both of Ashland; a daughter, Tracey (Michael) Porter of Ashland; a brother, James Stambaugh Jr. of Ashland; three sisters, Ethel Maddox of Ashland, Tina Haney of Ironton, Ohio, and Nancy Hicks of Ashland; and three grandchildren, Brittany Stambaugh, Michael Porter Jr. and Alexia Stambaugh.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Ron Day and the Rev. Frank Hullett. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 3, 2005, at the funeral home. Poage Masonic Lodge will conduct a service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
