Bertha L. Bruce Cathey, 88, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility after an extended illness.
Mrs. Cathey was born April 14, 1917, in Hickman County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Allen L. and Pearl E. Frizzell Bruce.
She was a homemaker and a member of Unity Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Larry Cathey; two sisters; and two brothers.
Surviving are her husband, Otis B. Cathey of Ashland; a son, Harold Cathey and his wife, Beverly, of Ashland; granddaughters Janet Cathey Woods and her husband, Tim, of Catlettsburg; and Ginger Cathey Daniels and her husband, Bryan, of Richmond, Ky.; and four great-grandchildren, Brett and Andrew Woods and Kristen and Kaitlyn Daniels.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 25, 2005, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Floyd Paris. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
