We are Tommy's neighbors and didn't know of his passing until yesterday. I have the greatest respect for him and consider him one of the finest gentlemen I ever knew. He would stop and talk to us every time he would see us outside and would give Jeffery a hard time when he saw me cutting the grass. He was always a joy to talk with, and I feel so blessed to have known such an American hero. Jeffery just talked to him last Friday evening, and I the day before. He loved the Lord and was always grateful for such a rich life he was given. We are deeply saddened today, for we have lost a dear friend, and America has lost one of her brave soldiers. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I worked with Tom for many years and considered him a good friend. I'm in Florida now and just heard of Tom's passing. My condolences to the family - he was a one-of-a-kind and will never be forgotten.

I was sad to hear about Tommy's passing. I never talked to Tommy that he didn't confirm how much he loved my Mamaw Sharp and "all the girls", so much so that he thought of them as his sisters. He was a close family friend and will be missed.

Deepest sympathy on the passing of Brother Layne. I enjoyed his visits to the Lodge. He was always very kind. Shortly after my becoming ER, Mr Layne came up to me in the Lodge and gave me one of his Boa's (neckties) that he had purchased at one of the National Conventions and congratulated me on being the first female ER in the State of KY. This as an act of kindness that I will never forget. Sorry for you loss.
