Nancy Jean Drown, 71, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

She was born Nov. 30, 1934, in Barboursville, W.Va., a daughter of Ethel Ross Sawyers of Ashland and the late Roscoe Sawyers.

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Drown Sr. in 1989; and two brothers, Earl and Ronald Sawyers.

She was former owner/operator of Grandview Lake and Ray's Wholesale and was of the Baptist faith.

Additional survivors include her second husband and companion of 15 years, Howard Sperry Sr. of Ashland; two sons, Raymond Drown Jr. of Versailles, Ky.,and Gregory Alan Drown of South Point, Ohio; a daughter, Brenda Gail Day of Ashland; a sister, Sarah McClaskey of Huntington, W.Va.; and grandchildren, Shannon Chelsea Drown and Dylan Spenser Drown, both of Versailles and Lindsay Morgan Day of Ashland.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Jim Mitchell. Burial will be in Baylous Cemetery on Route 10, Barboursville.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Lindsay and family. I am very sorry for your loss. I hope that this will have brought your family closer together and hopefully you can get through this.
