1926 - 2006

Dixie Lee Pruitt Swift, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 9, 2006.

Mrs. Swift was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late Wallace Lee Pruitt and Carrie Adams Pruitt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. “Frog” Swift in 1999.

She was retired from the Boyd County Property Valuation Administration Office, a life long member and past president of the Boyd County Democratic Woman's Club, a delegate to the 1980 Democratic Convention in New York City and during World War II, she was a “Rosie Riveter” in Dayton, Ohio.

Mrs. Swift was a member of Pollard Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School class.

Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Kevin and Ed Frame, Leslye and Randy Mason and Susan and Mike Reliford, all of Ashland, Ky.; six grandchildren, Matt (Pam) Dixon of Huntington, W.Va., Erica Mason of Fort Thomas, Ky., and Mindy (David) Martin, Ryan (Erica) Frame, Nathan Frame and Todd Reliford, all of Ashland; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Logan Martin, Chloe Frame and Caden Dixon; three sisters, Helen McBrayer of Morehead, Ky., Jo Ann Ramey of Ashland and Judy (David) Hill of Summerville, S.C.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Pollard Baptist Church in Ashland by Pastor William Vallance and Pastor Tom Swartzwelder. Burial will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and grandsons.

Friends may pay their respects from 6 to 9 tonight, March 11, 2006, at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland and one hour before the service at the church.

Contributions may be made to Pollard Baptist Church, 444 Blackburn Ave., Ashland, KY 41101

I took care of Dixie at Kingsbrook during her stay on Forest Heights. She was an outstanding woman who will be missed!!! She was always a joy!!!
