Charles Allen Workman, 85, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Workman was born July 23, 1917, in Logan, W.Va., a son of the late Albert and Annabell Harless Workman.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Vivian Compton Workman, on June 6, 2002; a son, Rodger D. Workman Sr.; a niece, Deborah Murray; and a sister, Inez Ruth Workman.
He was a retired shipbuilder and assistant foreman with Sunship Drydock in Chester, Pa. He was an Army sergeant during World War II, was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and American Legion Kenova Post #93 and was former post commander of the American Legion Post No. 951 of Ogden, Pa.
Surviving are a stepson, Ed and Julia Lincoln of Ashland; nieces, Beth Ann Hulett, Edie Dearfield, Nettie Price, Betty Nolan and Deanna Fay Trokay; nephews, David Cantrell, Donald Cantrell and James R. McMillion; a sister, Dorothy Pheil of Bonifay, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. John Freeman. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A military service will be conducted by the American Legion Kenova Post 93
