Clyde Evert Windland (1930-2007)

Clyde Evert Windland, 76, of Argillite, Ky., died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, in King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Mr. Windland was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Palestine, W.Va., a son of the late Okey Earl and Lillie Wade Windland. He was a member of Meade Station Church of God and the USS Enterprise Association. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a senior chief petty officer. He was a 20-year veteran who served in Korea and Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Simon Earl Windland and Joseph Junior Windland.

Mr. Windland is survived by his wife, Charlene Modesitt Windland of Argillite; two sons, Clyde Evert Windland Jr. and his wife, Shawna, of Thelma, Ky., and John J. Windland and his wife, Valerie, of El Paso, Texas; a daughter, Kelly Windland Park and her husband, Mickey, of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters, Dorcas Godbey of Parkersburg, W.Va., Glenna Craddock of Brandon, Miss., and Betty Buchanan and her husband, Alfred, of Elizabeth, W.Va.; and five granddaughters, Bailey, Ally, Monica, Kennedy and Chloe.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Rob Jordan. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Ky. Military services will be by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Friends may make contributions to the Meade Station Church of God Building Fund, 1315 Marsh Hill Drive, Ashland, KY 41102.

Please know that we are praying for the family as you pay tribute to Clyde's life. He has his ultimate reward, but will certainly be missed by all those privileged to know him. Someday a reunion in heaven...for now God's peace! Love & prayers, Janet
