Ruth Carlyle, 85, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
Born Feb. 5, 1917, in Ashland, she was a daughter of the late George Roy Sr. and Jenka Keyser Kramer.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, William Theodore Strosnider in 1936; her second husband, Edward Carlyle in 1981; a stepson, Edward S. Carlyle; and a brother, Wayne M. Kramer.
Mrs. Carlyle was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Ashland, where she served in the St. Elizabeth Guild, and was valedictorian of the 1937 class of Ashland High School.
Her survivors include a son and his wife, Richard L. and Barbara Strosnider of Ashland; her stepdaughter-in-law, Linda Carlyle of Ironton, Ohio; two brothers, Benjamin P. Kramer of Morganfield, Ky., and George R. Jr. and his wife, Jacqueline Kramer, of Ashland; a sister, Margaret and her husband, Fred, Gearhart of Ashland; two grandchildren, Ann Carlyle Strosnider of Indianapolis, Ind., and Lucy Lee and her husband, Matthew Thomson, of Columbus, Ohio; and five stepgrandchildren, Susan, Cindy, Jimmy, Carolyn and Mary Clare.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel by the Rev. Dale Carden and the Rev. Doug Snyder. Burial will be in Wheelersburg Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour before the service Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Thomson, George R. Kramer III, Walter W. Martin, Gene Whitman, Paul Auclair and Larry Kramer.
