Rickie White Pennington - 1907-2007
Rickie White Pennington, age 100, of Ashland, Ky., who formerly lived on a farm of her daughter and son-in-law’s in Billings, Mo., died Tuesday evening, June 26, 2007 in Community Hospice Care Center.
Mrs. Pennington was born Jan. 25, 1907, in Elliott County, Ky., and was the daughter of the late William H. and Barbara Lyon White.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ambia C. Pennington, who passed away in 1966; a son, Clyde Proctor Pennington; two brothers, Clyde White and Tommy White; four sisters, Thelma Thompson, Hester White Dummitt, Evelyn Williams and Elsie Dummitt; and a nephew, Finis White.
A homemaker and avid gardener, she was loving and caring to family, friends and acquaintances. She was a member of Non Denominational Church, a Bible reader and attended religious services regularly.
Surviving are a son, D. Elwood Pennington and wife, Delores Renfroe Pennington, of Ashland; a daughter, Lois Ann (Edgar) Salyers of Billings; two sisters, Itle Higginbotham of Pennsylvania and Martyne Sheline of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Gary (Liz) Salyers, Elizabeth Salyers (Henry) Weeda, Deanna (Dale) Pennington Jones, Debra Sue (Terry) Pennington Setser and Dean (Kristen) Pennington; great-grandchildren, Derek (Katie) Jones, Drew (Jessi) Jones, Amber and Eric Setser, Brenton and Ashlee Salyers, Shane (Alaina) Salyers, Heather and Andrew Weeda and David and Elizabeth Pennington; two great-great-grandchildren, Kelsi and Kaden Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland with Dennis Falb and Eunice Ladwig officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
