Joe So sorry to read of Dr. Stephenson's death. Checked the address and knew this had to be your father. He was obviously a remarkable person. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. Get in touch if you can. The last time anyone heard, you were in Huntington. Periodically, I recall all the absurd fun we had growing up and I still have picture of you in a ninth grade home-ec "project". What a good sport?! Again, I'm so sorry, Joe. Please extend my sympathies to the rest of your family and do try and get in touch. Macon

On behalf of all the Physicians of the BCMS, I would like to offer our condolences and thoughts to all the family and friends of Dr. Stephenson. He was an active Physican in our community, and devoted many years to faithfully serving our people. It is through individuls as Dr. Stephenson that the practice of Medicine should be remembered. We thank him for all his work and dedication.

I read the obituary for Dr. Stephenson today, and although I did not know him, I feel a connection because I work at King's Daughters and have met and talked with many of the generation who must have known Dr. Stephenson. He practiced at a time when medicine was advancing quickly, yet there wasn't as much "fail safe" technology as today, and not as much specialization. He was among the pioneers who ushered in improved diagnostics and less invasive surgeries. It also is remarkable that he originally is from Pikeville, and he chose to remain in Appalachia after medical school and fellowships. From what I read of him, Dr. Stephenson sounds like a remarkable person who led an exemplary life helping others and raising a wonderful family. My condolences to you.

So sorry to hear of the passing of your father. I will always remember the family get together's at my grandparents Lucille and Charlie's backyard when we where young. And how much I loved your grandmother Aunt Emmabelle. I have been living in Lexington but moved back to Ashland a few months ago as my daughter wanted to come back and teach at Blazer and my husband decided to return to teaching after retiring six years ago and is the band director at Russell. Again, my thoughts are with you all at this sad time.
