Margie Hamilton Nickles StewartMargie Hamilton Nickles Stewart (1932-1009)

Margie Hamilton Nickles Stewart, 77, of Ashland died Saturday at Kingsbrook Lifecare Center. She was born Feb. 12, 1932 in Grethel, to the late George and Emma L. Spears Hamilton. On Jan. 25, 1951, Margie married Delza Nickles Sr., who preceded her in death. Together they had three sons, D.H. Nickles of Raceland, Ronald Nickles of Louisa; and was preceded in death by Delza Nickles Jr. Additional survivors include three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a special great-granddaughter, Madison Nickles; a brother, Tony Hamilton and his wife, Ann, of Ashland; five sisters, Mildred Newman of Floyd County, Ann Akers of Catlettsburg, Shirley Windell and Ortha Lee Harris, both of Corbin and Maggie Artrip of Greenup County.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Frasure and Myrtle Miller.

On Dec. 16, 1988, Margie married James E. Stewart of Ashland. He has one daughter, Sharon Boehm and her husband Richard of Mayson, Ohio, two grandchildren, Amanda and Brad Campbell and Andrea Boehm, and a great-granddaughter.

Margie attended school in Floyd County. She took nursing and geriatrics courses by correspondence. She also took Bible courses from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine until illness kept her from attending. She owned and operated Nickles Personal Care Home for 33 years, which is now the Hamilton PCH. She was an avid traveler with her husband, James. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Steen Funeral Home, Central Avenue Chapel, in Ashland with Pastor Ed Caudill officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to a favorite charity.
