Frederick William RahlmannFrederick William Rahlmann (1912-2009)

Frederick William Rahlmann, 96, of Ashland, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born Sept. 11, 1912, in Catlettsburg, the son of the late Casper Lee and Melissa Jane Caldwell Rahlmann. He was the husband of Doris Layne Rahlmann, who survives.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland, American Legion Post 76 and OCAW. He was retired from Ashland Oil Inc., as a pipefitter with 40 years of service and was a veteran of World War II, where he served with the U.S. Army Corps.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Joyce Rahlmann; a brother, Charles Rahlmann; and eight sisters, Maxie Rahlmann, Marjorie Arthur, Pauline Mullens, Rosena Weddington, Ruth Weaver, Melvina Behnen, Charlotte Rahlmann and Juanita Rahlmann.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Sherry Rahlmann of Cincinnati and Stephen and Wanda Rahlmann of Louisville; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Rod Keller of Huntington; and grandchildren Alan Rahlman and wife Morgan and Jennifer Rahlmann, all of Cincinnati, Jason Keller of Flemingsburg, Matt Keller, serving with the U.S. Army in Iraq and Jessica Rahlmann of Louisville.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland, with the Rev. Ed Talley officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum, with military rites by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Keller, Matt Keller, Alan Rahlmann, Kenneth Arthur, Donald Arthur and Charles Salyers.

Friends may make contributions to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101.
