Eleanor Beetham HarveyEleanor Beetham Harvey - 1933-2009

Eleanor Beetham Harvey, 76, passed on Monday, May 18, 2009, because of medical complications at Kings Daughters Medical Center.

A daughter of Mary E. and Samuel Beetham, she was born Feb. 14, 1933, in Cleveland, Ohio, where she spent her childhood.

She was a Kappa Kappa Gamma at Ohio Wesleyan University, where she graduated in 1955 and married Samuel D. Harvey the same year.

She was a loving and devoted mother to her three children, a member of the first board of the Paramount Arts Center and a member of the DAR. Her passions were sailing and traveling abroad and she had a profound love of animals, adopting and caring for many throughout her life.

She is survived by her brother, Sam K. Beetham of Mundelein, Ill.; her husband, Samuel D. Harvey; a son, Steven M. Harvey of Ashland, Ky.; a daughter, Pamela Harvey-Rath; and grandchildren Breana, Meriel and Nerina Rath of New York City, N.Y.

Friends are invited to visit the Harvey family at their home at 2241 Hillcrest Road in Ashland on Sunday, May 24, 2009 from 3 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the ASPCA or a local animal shelter.

Arrangements are under the direction of Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland.

Pam, I send my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I have always remembered your mom as our brownie and girl scout leader in grade school. She and Bea Kimbrell always made our meetings such fun. I enjoyed talking with her at Louise Curnutte's memorial service. My thoughts are with you.

Sam,Steve, and Pam, I can only imagine the JOY Eleanor experienced as Lizzie greeted her. I am profoundly grateful for the wonderful memories I carry in my heart for your family. Eleanor made a profound impact on my life as she always included me in family gatherings on Christmas Eve. I also cherish the times we spent sailing together in Palm Beach. Know that her loving spirit will continue to guide always. With My Love and Prayers, Greg
