Betty Smith Lakin, 89, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.
She was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Ulysses, Ky., to the late Isadore and Jette Davis Webb. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Talbert Smith. She was a homemaker and attended 13th Street Freewill Baptist Church in Ashland.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Norten. Her husband, Dennis, of Colorado Springs, Colo., survives.
Surviving are a son, Talbert Smith Jr., and his wife, Jean, of Belleville, Mich.; daughters Connie Moore and her husband, Dana, of Ashland, Linda Hamilton and her husband, Raney, of Ashland and Darlene Payne and her husband, Cliff, of Westwood; sisters Louise Moore of Ulysses, Ky., and Olive Hefner of Florida; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Dale Maddy. Entombment will be in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum.
