Nyle Y. McCowan, 73, of Ashland died Friday, Aug. 9, at King's Daughters Medical Center.

Mrs. McCowan was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Nashville, Tenn., the daughter of the late Earl W. and Ruth Nichols Yates.

She was a homemaker, a member of the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ and a graduate of Marshall University. She grew up in Atlanta, Ga.

She is survived by her husband, Robert T. McCowan.

Other survivors include a son, David W. (Sally) McCowan of Lexington; a daughter, Jill (Howard) Sloneker of Cincinnati; and seven grandchildren, Christopher McCowan, Jamie McCowan, Leslie McCowan, Kellie McCowan, Shannon McCowan, Taylor Sloneker and Chip Sloneker.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, 1930 Winchester Ave., by the Revs. Ken Castania and David McCowan.

Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery, Lexington.

Pallbearers include Christopher McCowan, Chip Sloneker, Howard Sloneker, Steve McCowan, Bill Miller and Jim Fout.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Steen Funeral Homes Ashland Chapel. The body will lie in state from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

The comittal service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lexington Cemetery.
