Walter Elwood Sarven, 72, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, Dec. 31, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Sarven was born March 10, 1929, in Ashland, a son of the late Harvey Darr Sarven and Matilda Strickland Sarven Roberts.
He was a body repairman and painter for Sim Fryson and Don Hall, a World War II Marines veteran and a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are a friend, Mary Sturgill of Ashland; a son, Harvey Sarven of Idaho; three daughters, Sherry L. Coleman and Easter Noble, both of Ashland, and Lamion Cortes of Lorain, Ohio; a sister, Annie Sargent of Wyondotte, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 3, 2002, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel by Pastor Brenda Smith and the Rev. Raymond Coleman. A military service was held by American Legion Post 93 of Kenova.
Visitation was from noon to 1 p.m. today, Jan. 3, at the funeral home.
