James E. Campbell, 78, of Ashland, Ky., died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Campbell was born Dec. 26, 1923, in Jenkins, Ky., a son of the late E.L. and Mae Wright Campbell.
He was a retired accounting supervisor with Armco Steel with over 35 years of service and was a member of the Management Club.
An Army Air Force veteran, he flew twice on D-Day during World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Elks #350, Road Runners Club and American Legion. He was past officer of Members Choice Credit Union and a 1949 graduate of Marshall University.
Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Rolen Campbell of Ashland; a son, Jeffery Campbell of Ashland; two daughters, Jennifer Ihle and Deborah Salmon, both of Ashland; a brother, Don Campbell of Ashland; two sisters, Beulah ElDareer of Birmingham, Ala., and Phyllis Robinson of Langley, Ky.; and a granddaughter, Rachel Sanders.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by the Rev. Blanchard Amstutz. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
