Emalena McCalvin Roberts, 81, of Ashland, died Saturday, Feb. 1, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
Mrs. Roberts was born March 4, 1921, in Ethel, W.Va., a daughter of the late George and Mary Click McCalvin.
She was the widow of Brigham Young Roberts, who died in 1995.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert McCalvin and Clarence McCalvin, and a sister, Blanche Salyers.
She is survived by four sons, Herbert L. Roberts and his wife, Doris Jean, Dale P. Roberts and his wife, Mayme, Larry D. Roberts and his wife, Geraldine, and Phillip M. Roberts and his wife, Linda, all of Ashland; four daughters, Linda K. Leavitt of Salt Lake City, Diane Jones and her husband, Calvin, of Burley, Idaho, Patricia M. Hurt and her husband, Ben, of Ashland, and Karen S. Stucki and her husband, Gerald, of Rexburg, Idaho; five brothers, Arthur McCalvin of Cannonsburg, Albert McCalvin of Salt Lick, Mitchell McCalvin and George D. McCalvin, both of Ashland, and Glenn Willis McCalvin of Michigan; five sisters, Evelyn Ingles, Katherine Perfater and Lorene Williams, all of Ashland, Judy Hutchinson of Kenova and Edith Workman of Alexandria, Va.; 40 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Russell, where she served in many capacities – the Women's Relief Society, a worker in the genealogy library and as a visiting teacher.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Russell by Bishop Brian Hunt, with burial in the Roberts Family Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and Monday at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel.
