1906 - 2003

Eva Mae Ratliff Salyers, 97, of Ashland, Ky., died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, in Woodland Oaks Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Salyers was born March 10, 1906, in Burke, Ky., a daughter of the late James and Allie Davis Gillum.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two husbands, James Silas Ratliff, who died in 1951, and Marion Salyers, who died in 1978, and a son, Ballard Gene Ratliff.

A loving homemaker, she was a member of the Undenominational Christian Fellowship Church.

Survivors include a son, Walter E. (Irma) Ratliff of Ashland; six stepsons, Edwin Salyers of West Union, Ohio, Edgar Salyers of Billings, Mo., Tom Carl Salyers of Grove City, Ohio, Samuel Salyers of Dayton, Ohio, Isom Salyers of Elliott County, Ky., and John Salyers of Galloway, Ohio; two daughters, Zelova (Thomas H.) Ross of Ashland and Alberta Davis of Rush, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Ruth Cooper of West Union; a brother, Ennis Gillum of Ashland; a sister, Ruby Folk of Lake Panassoffke, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Roy Ross, George Keith Davis, Allen Ratliff, Kenneth L. Davis, Eula Davis Freeman, Lora Ratliff Bayes, Greg Ratliff, Karl Davis and Brian Ratliff; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Glenn Gasser and Justin Arbogust. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at the funeral home.
