Charles F. ``Coach Chick" Thomas Jr., 65, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Thomas was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Ashland, a son of the late Charles F. Sr. and Mary Hutchison Thomas.
He was a retired school teacher and coach for the Boyd County School System. He was a Navy veteran.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Courtney Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Kristy Rittenhouse Thomas of Ashland; a son, Steve Thomas of Ashland; two stepsons, Ron Mullins of Greenup, Ky., and Billie Mullins Jr. of Somerset, Ky.; three daughters, Bobbi Thomas of Ashland, and Mindy Hutchinson and Kelli Clark, both of Lexington, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Tracee Mullins of Ashland; a brother, James Thomas of Ashland; a sister, Gypsie McDavid of Ashland; and 14 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Steen Funeral Home-Ashland Chapel by Joe Monnett, minister.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at the funeral home.
