Howard Gene Meade Sr., 72, of Ashland died Saturday, Feb. 8, at Wurtland Manor Nursing Facility.
Mr. Meade was born July 1, 1930, in Paintsville, the son of the late James A. and Pearl Scarberry Meade Jr.
He was the husband of the late Jessie Marie Meade, who died in 2001.
He was a former maintenance engineer, a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Flatwoods and a minister since 1963.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Meade; a brother, James Allen Meade; and a sister, Violet Gray Rowe.
Survivors include three sons, James A. Meade III of Ashland, Howard Gene Meade Jr. of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Steve W. Meade of Stanton, Calif.; three daughters, Ruth A. Meade of Ashland, Genia Cunningham of Ashland, and Karen Pearon of Columbus; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Steen Funeral Homes-Ashland Chapel, with Gale Beaman officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
