Oscar R. Porter, 74, of Ashland, Ky., died Saturday, Feb. 8, at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Porter was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Boyd County, a son of the late Francis M. and Ida Johnson Porter.
He was a security guard at the Ky. Vo.-Tech School and attended the Church of God-Family Lighthouse.
Mr. Porter is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lori Beth Satterfield.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Epperly Porter of Ashland; two daughters, Janie Edge of Frankfort, Ky., and Beverly (Rex) Satterfield of Ashland; three brothers, Procter Porter of Catlettsburg, Francis Porter, Jr., of Ashland and Charles Porter of Greenup; four sisters, Ethel Brown, Janie Brewer and Annabelle Stewart, all of Ashland, and Sarah Wells of Greenup; three grandchildren, Cheryl Edge, Crystal Edge and B.J. Satterfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland with the Rev. Roger Wireman officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
