The Rev. Douglas L. Johnson, 83, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, in King's Daughters Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Muskegon, Mich., a son of the late Alfred and Mary Ralph Johnson.
The Reverend Johnson was a member of Grace Gospel Church of Huntington, W.Va., former pastor of Independent Baptist Church of Pound, Va., and former vice president, treasurer, and professor of Southland Bible Institute.
Surviving are his wife, Claribel Wright Johnson of Ashland; one son, Meredith (Ella) Johnson of South Lyon, Mich.; three daughters, Arlis (Freddie Dale) Blackburn of Hudson, Fla., Wilma (Sandy) Ard of Charleston, S.C., and Diana (Jim) Lemon of Raceland; two brothers, Ralph Johnson of Twin Lake, Mich., and Alfred Johnson Jr. of Muskegon; one sister, Bonnie DeJonge of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren, Laura Campbell of Lansing, Mich., Douglas Blackburn of Hudson, Fla., Lucinda Marie Perkins of Cleveland, Ohio, James Brian Kitchen of Charlotte, N.C., Robert Brian Ard of Ladson, S.C., Lonnie Ard Jr. of Goose Creek, S.C., Nick Lemon and Jared Lemon of Raceland, Sheila Wing of South Lyon, Mich., and Dayne Copeland of Nashville, Tenn.; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Steen Funeral Home-Marshall Steen Chapel in Ashland by Dr. Keith Wiebe.
Burial will be in Laketon Township Cemetery.
