VERA VIRGIN

1915 - 2012

Aunt Vera, 96, of Raceland, Kentucky, passed away, Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. She left this world to go teach the little children in heaven.

Ms. Virgin was born August 16, 1915 in Oldtown, Kentucky a daughter of the late Virgil and Della Bays Virgin.

She was a retired teacher, having spent 20 years in the Greenup County School System and 22 years in the Russell Independent School System from which she retired in 1976. She was a graduate of Morehead State University.

She was a member of Oldtown Christian Church

An Honorary society for women educators

Womens Auxiliary of Oldtown Volunteer Fire Department

She is survived by

One nephew whom she raised, Dick Hutton and his wife Bonnie of Raceland

Two great nieces Ronda Grubb Flatwoods, KY

Vicki Blankenship Fort Wayne, IN

One great great niece Rachel Grubb

Three great great nephews Daniel Grubb

Shannon Large

Tanner Blankenship

She also leaves behind numerous other beloved nieces, nephews and family members.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday, March 30, 2012, at Oldtown Christian Church by Pastor Doug Virgin. Burial will be in the Virgin Cemetery in Oldtown.

Visitation will be 6-9 pm Thursday at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky and one hour before the funeral on Friday at the church.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Oldtown Christian Church or to Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, KY.

I will always see Aunt Vera walking the hills of Oldtown. What a marvelous lady. My heart goes out to all of the family.
