Evon Stone

1921-2013

Longtime Greenup County resident, Evon Stone passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Carol Ann Walters on Saturday April 28 2013 at 1:10am. After almost 92 years on this earth. Evaughan Stone (aka, Evon, Yvonne) was called home.

She was born May 15, 1921, in Lawrence county, KY a daughter of the late Clyde Fraley and Mahala Bishop . Her mother was never married to Mr. Fraley and Evaughan never took the Fraley surname, choosing to go by her step fathers name of stemmer. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Irvin Stone and a daughter, Thelma Jo Scaggs and three infants who died at birth. She is survived by 5 of 9 children that she gave birth to, Lucreta Shoemaker 1940, William Alfred Stone 1945, Dorothy Pearl Claxon 1948, Irvonna Ruth Jimenez 1951 (Bert) and Carol Ann Walters 1953 (Stephen).

Mrs. Stone is also survived by one sibling, Bill Adams of Largo, Florida. He was adopted when their mother became too ill to care for him as an infant. They were reunited as brother and sister in 1991 and had been a comfort to one another.

The Bishop (Biscoff) family immigrated to America in the mid 1700s from Oberhausen Germany via Rotterdam. Her Fraley (Froehlich) heritage came also from Germany around that same time.

Mrs. Stone had been bed ridden for the past couple of years and was cared for by her youngest daughter, Carol Ann Walters, her husband Stephen, and their children, Alisa and Rebecca. She recently celebrated an early 92nd birthday. In attendance were Carol, her husband Stephen, Granddaughters, Alisa (Price) and Rebecca, Alvina and Eric Jordan. Great-Grandchildren, Jakob, Logan, and Lexie, her daughter Irvonna (Bugg) and her husband Bert from Florida, Gary and Wilma Scaggs, and Geneva Anderson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Stone Cemetery, Greenup, Kentucky.
