Garnette Garnette Pat Fyffe

1933 2013

Garnette Louise Pat Fyffe, 80, a retired elementary secretary of Argillite, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Fyffe was born Dec. 15, 1933 in Greenup, a daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Edna Irene Brown Evans. She attended Plum Grove's one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Wurtland High School in 1951.

Having grown up in the Depression Era she was known for saying, "We can make that!" and for her recycled gift wrapping aptly coined "granny wrap." She served as Argillite Elementary's secretary a total of 50 years, 10 years past retirement for love of the kids and staff. She was a long-standing member of Plum Grove Baptist and would often be found singing hymns like Old Rugged Cross.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Glenn Jack Fyffe Sr.; two brothers, Larry Evans and Clinton (Dale) Evans;a daughter-in-law, Susan Keibler Fyffe and one granddaughter, Heather Fyffe. She is survived by four sons, Leonard Glenn Zip (Linda Tackett) Fyffe Jr. of Argillite; Ronald (Joanna) Fyffe of Lexington; Timothy (Belinda) Fyffe and Terry Fyffe, both of Lloyd; three brothers, William (Fran) Evans of Dayton, Ohio; Robert (Neva) Evans of South Shore and Douglas (Donna) Evans of Inez; four sisters, Janice (Gene) Rainey of Wurtland; Virginia Evans of Cincinnati, Ohio; Doris (Robert) Bellew and Dean (Bill) Oakes, both of Worthington. She is survived by two special aunts, Edith Adkins of Lloyd and Joan Litteral of Wurtland. Dear to her also were her surviving 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at Plum Grove Baptist Church in Greenup by Pastor Shawn Rose. Burial will be in Plum Grove Cemetery, Greenup.

Visitation will be 6pm to 9pm Wednesday Jan. 15, 2014 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, and one hour before the funeral on Thursday at Plum Grove Baptist Church.

Remembering your mother brings back many days of joy. Days in grade school and high school have a lot to do with the Fyffe family. I know she was ready to go and her life in heaven will be a joy for her. All of you take care and be happy knowing what a wonderful mother you had

To Ron Fyffe and the Fyffe Family, I want to express our deepest sympathies with the passing of your mom. Please know that we are praying for you and your family and our prayer is that you would feel Gods love and presents. That his Holy Spirit would comfort you as you mourn and grief your loss. Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crush in spirit. 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Sincerely, Kevin Loynds (Friend from Ashland in Wilmington, DE)
