1927 - 2014

Clarence E. Eastham, 86, a resident of Wurtland, KY for over 60 years, died Sunday, March 16 in Mandeville, LA, where he had resided the past year. Clarence, born April 30, 1927, in Sovereign, WV, was the son of Mason and Sophia Burgess Eastham.

Clarence is survived by two children, Toni Eastham, Abita Springs, LA and Sherri Eastham, Ashland, KY as well as three grandchildren, Mason Eastham, Ashland, KY, Jennie C. Alpaugh, New Orleans, LA, and Cynthia Christenson, Morenci, AZ. Clarence is also survived by three siblings, Charles Eastham, Clarksville, TN, Pauline Sanders, Clarksville, TN, and Phyllis Bonivich, Clairton, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Jacobs Eastham in 2008, a niece, Carla Cavin Madison in 2012, and two brothers, Max Eastham in 1957 and Jack Eastham in 1960.

Clarence graduated from Wurtland High School, served in the US Navy in combat in World War II, and attended Ashland Junior College. Clarence was active in the Wurtland Lions Club and the Wurtland Volunteer Fire Department. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service at 65. During retirement he proceeded to fish and tell lively stories, a life long habit.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22. A service honoring Clarence will be held at 1:00 at the same location. He will be buried in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County.

In lieu of flowers, his daughter asks that donations be made to Lakeshore Hospice, 2969 N. Causeway Boulevard, Mandeville, LA 70471.

So sorry to hear of Clarence's passing. We worked together at IRS and he was a great friend and mentor. Goed be with you all.

Sorry I couldn't make it. I can't think of Clarence without smiling. We've all lost a wonderful man.
