Chris Edward Slater Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1962 - 2014 Chris Edward Slater 1962-2014 Chris Edward Slater, 51, of South Shore, Kentucky went to be with the Lord surrounded by his large and loving family on Sunday May 4, 2014 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky after a hard battle with Lou Gehrigs ALS disease. He fought the disease with courage and faith never complaining and lived life to the fullest until the end. Chris was born May 13, 1962 in Portsmouth, Ohio a son of Tempa Darlene Sowards Slater of South Shore and the late Donald Edward Slater. He was a 1981 graduate of Greenup County High School He had 31 years of service with Mark West Hydrocarbon Corporation in south shore A Kentucky Colonel Was a Christian and attended Siloam Missionary Baptist Church in South Shore Loved to hunt and fish Loved his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He was looking forward to his two new grandchildren due in May. He is survived by His wife of 29 years Rhonda Kay Adkins Slater 1 son Ryan Shane (Heather) South Shore, KY 1 Daughter Molly Kay (Adam) Ratliff South Shore, KY 2 grandchildren Wyatt Shane Slater and Tayte Matthew Ratliff Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Gary Howell and Ernie Napier. Burial will be in Mt. Zion cemetery in South Shore. Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 pm on Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. I m so sorry for your loss. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Psalm 72:12 For he will deliver the poor one crying for help. Also the afflicted one and whoever has no helper. Pleasse accept my sincere condolences.

So sorry for your loss. Chris was an excellent person, friend and co-worker during my time at MarkWest. Stay strong and rejoice in the fact that one day you will be together again. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Greg Pass and family.
