Elaine Louise Rees, age 81, of Gallipolis, died Thursday October 17, 2002 at Pleasant Valley Hospital. Born August 27, 1921 in Cheshire, she was the daughter of the late George Monroe and Phyllis Ruth Story Hawley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Vance Rees, and by one granddaughter. She was a retired Executive Director with the National Executive Housekeepers Association. She had received her 50 year award for membership in the Order of Eastern Star Gallipolis Chapter #283. Other memberships include St. Peters Episcopal Church, and the VFW Auxiliary. She was a former member of the American Society of Association Executives and of the Riverside Study Club.
She is survived by 3 Children: David Leonard "Len " Rees of Papillion, NE, Ann Louise Grywalski of Cornelius, NC, and John Rees of Gallipolis, 4 Grandchildern, and a Brother, Leslie Hawley of Cheshire.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM. Saturday November 2, 2002 at St. Peters Episcopal Church. Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
