William E. 'Big John' Armstrong Jr., age 41, of Gallipolis died Thursday March 27, 2003. Born September 20, 1961, he was a Gallia Academy High School Graduate; he later served in the United States Army, and was a member of Paint Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by: Father: William Armstrong of Gallipolis; Mother: Imogen Armstrong Borden of Gallipolis; 2 Sons: Bryson and Brandon of Gallipolis; 1 Daughter: Baleigh of Gallipolis; 4 Sisters: Tina (Arnold) Cooper of Gallipolis, Terry Armstong Evans of Gallipolis, Tanya Lewis of Gallipolis, and Twana Fisher of Ironton; 3 Brothers: Tony Armstong of Gallipolis, Bruce Galliamore of Oak Hill, and Billy Armstrong of Gallipolis; Grandmother: Aurilla McWhorter of Springfield; Several Nieces and Nephews, 3 Uncles, 4 Aunts, and a multitude of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday April 1, 2003 at the Triedstone Baptist Church with Rev. Melvin Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Baptist Cemetry in Blackfork. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home on Monday from 6-9 P.M. The body will also lie in state at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers will be: Edward Borden, Derrick Armstrong, Pete Anderson, Paul 'Dickey' Qualls, Jonathan McCabe, and Phillip King.

To Bony Bill and Imogene and Family, I am so sorry to hear about Big John. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I am sure that you all will be experiencing the same kind of struggles that we went thru with Carol's death and the subsequent court proceedings. My heart is with the family at this time. I wish the family great stregth during this tragic time. I will always remember Big as a friendly, loving person, and will never forget all the things that he helped me with while I was young, and also being a friend throughout the years.
