1923 - 2003

Robert Lee 'Bob' Shiflet, age 79, of Gallipolis, died Friday evening March 28, 2003 at his residence. Born December 3, 1923 in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna White Shiflet. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his first wife; Betty Jo Brown Shiflet, and by 2 sisters; Hilda J. Nibert, and Jean Radcliff.

Bob was a retired boilermaker, and a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a member of The First Church of God on Garfield Ave. He was also a member of Boilermakers Local 667, The VFW #4464, The National Rifle Association, and a former member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

He is survived by: Wife: Leoma J. Snyder Shiflet; 5 Children: Linda K. Mahan, Patricia Sheline, Deborah Carhart, all of Gallipolis; Robert M. Shiflet of Bidwell, and Kelly Renee Shiflet of Jacksonville, Florida; 4 Step Children: Ronald K. White of Gallipolis, Diana Glover of Daytona Beach, Florida, Kathy Sands of Cheshire, and Jeff White of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; 7 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; 9 Step Grandchildren; and 6 Step Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: John Dray of Kenton, Ohio; 4 Sisters: Ernstine Lane, Nancy Fields both of Dunnellon, Florida, Margaret Haskins of Gallipolis, and Anna Mead of Henderson, West Virginia.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday April 2, 2003 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home with Pastor Paul Voss officiating. Burial will follow in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-9 P.M. Full Military Honors will be presented a the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Organizations. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The First Church Of God Building Fund 109 Garfield Ave. Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
