1927 - 2003

Virginia Agnes Brumfield, age 76, of Gallipolis, died Sunday June 8, 2003 at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Pt. Pleasant. Born March 12, 1927 in Walnut Township, Gallia County, she was the daughter of the late Elva J. Straight and Sadie Blanche Tedder Straight Shaver of Patriot. In addition to her father she was prceded by her husband Stanley Austin 'Jim' Brumfield who she married June 28, 1947 in Ironton. At the time of Jim's death they had been married for 49 years and 9 months. Also preceding her were an infant sister, Evelyn Straight; a brother, William Franklin 'Bill' Straight; a brother in law, Walter Jenkins; a nephew, Joe Jenkins, and a niece, Rhonda Straight.

Aggie was a loving wife, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother and a special friend to all who knew her. She retired after many years from the Sears Store in Gallipolis. She was a member of Waterloo Methodist Church. She was a very active in supporter of Kyger High School, where she served as the President of the Band Boosters for 4 years, the PTA for 3 years, and was a advisor to the Band for 5 years.

In addition to her mother she is survived by: Daughter: Stana Maureen (Curtiss) Couch of Gallipolis; 2 Grandsons: Todd Allen (Wendy) Hamilton of Cheshire; and Chadd Thomas (Carrie) Hamilton of Mt. Pleasant, SC; 2 Great Grandchildren: Todd Austin Hamilton and Michael Todd Hamilton; 5 Brothers and Sister: Elladean (Paul) Mitchell of Patriot, Pauline Mae Jenkins of Chesapeake, Ronal Lee 'Ronnie' (Rosalie) Straight of Oak Hill, Lawana Charlene (Brain) Bostic of Patriot, and Sherry E. (Eldon) Paugh of Milton.; Nieces and Nephews: Roger, Rogina, Ryan, Bob, Tami, Tina, Tim, Lori, and Mark.; Special Friend: Mae Belle Criswell of South Point; And many, many friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday June 22, 2003 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home with Minister Jan Thornton officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 6-9 P.M.
