Ruby Mae Montgomery, age 72, of Gallipolis, died Wednesday evening December 11, 2002 at her daughters residence. Born August 12, 1930 in Gallipolis, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Irene Queen White. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James William Montgomery, by four sisters; Sylvia Perkins, Marjorie Mullins, Hazel Montgomery, and Goldie Hill, and by two brothers; Alvin and Frank White.
Ruby was a homemaker and also worked for several years as a sales clerk at the A. W. Cox Department Store. She was a member of the following organizations; The Gold Star Wives, The Women of the Moose in Pt. Pleasant, and The Ladies Auxiliaries of the VFW, and of the American Legion both in Gallipolis.
She is survived by: Two Daughters: Sandy (Mike) Thompson of Jackson and Connie (Dan) Vance of Gallipolis. Two Sons: Gary (Freda) Montgomery of East Point, FL and James W. Montgomery Jr. of Gallipolis. Nine Grandchildren: Christopher James Montgomery, Anthony Vance, Dan Vance, Ryan J. Slone, Michael Montgomery, Christina Kartchu, Winetta Montgomery, Michelle Montgomery, and Theresa Montgomery. Fourteen Great Grandchildren. Four Sisters: Fran (John) Hyde of Augusta, GA, Grace Mullins of Springfield, Ruth (Clifford) Willit of Gallipolis, and Ida Pilcher of Springfield. A Special Niece: Diane Swisher of Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2002 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home with Pastor Eugene Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-9 PM.
Pall Bearers will be: Bill Ward, Paul Swisher, Dave Perkins, Mark Henry, Bob Hennesy, Mike Hill, and Billy Montgomery.
