Dear Gene and Mrs. Wood:
I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Woods passing. When my dad called to tell me, I thought of two things....how he use to laugh and get a kick out of us riding out dirt bikes when we were little and how warm and friendly he was with everyone. We will miss him , but heaven just got an upgrade. Please know that I'm only a phone call away anytime if there is anything I can do. Your family has always been good to me.

I have fond memories of Fred from my childhood because my grandfather, Charles Lambert, worked for him. One thing that stands out to me is that he always had a big smile on his face and no matter what the situation he had a way of making you feel at ease. He was a great man and he will be missed by the whole community.

Joan and Gene, I'm so sorry about Freddie. He was a good friend to all that knew him. Since I live in Indiana I would not have know about his passing if I did not checked the Gallipolis Daily Tribune by the internet. Fred will be greatly missed. There was never a time that I would see Freddie that he didn't give me a big hug. He was always concerned about everyone and was a great listener. I send my deepest sympathy to you and Gene and you both will be in my prayers. God Bless you both!!

Bill and I were saddened to hear of Freddy's death. While we were away from Gallipolis for so many years, we didn't know him as well as we would have liked. He was always a gentleman with a wide smile and an ability to make you chuckle even when you were sad. He will be greatly missed by not only your family but the people of Gallipolis.

We are so sorry for the loss of Fred. We will miss seeing him sitting on those "front steps" and waving to everyone that drives by. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. Heaven is now richer because of "Freddie Wood's". I'm sure he and my Daddy, Rev. Erie E. Cox are sharing memories. I shall always remember him for his compassion for everyone he met - poor or rich - it certainly did not matter to Fred!

We at Tri-State Wilbert Vault were saddened to hear about Fred. Since December 1978, when my family bought the company, my men have always come back from services with kind words about Fred. He always made the men feel very good about their setup, regardless of the inclement weather and conditions. Our condolences go out to your family and we know our men will always have kind thoughts of Fred.

I am very saddened to learn of the loss of Fred. Such a nice man although I shall always think of him as a boy that I worked with at Lusk's (later Evans) restaurant in Gallipolis in 1948. Sorry I am not able to be there in person but I shall always remember Fred with great admiration and respect.

Dear Joan, Gene and Peggy,
I am very sorry about Freddie. He was such a wonderful, sweet man, and member of our family. He was like a big, soft teddy bear, that helped us all through some very difficult times. He also had a wonderfully wicked sense of humor that I will truly miss. It was so comforting to know he is in a better place and I'm sure, a comfort to you that you were able to keep him at home throughout his illness. I know that snuggling with Molly Jane meant so much to him! Due to bad weather and Alex getting out of school early every day this week for finals, I won't be able to come up. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. You are a very special family.
With sincere sympathy,
Patty
