Sybil French, age 91, of Gallipolis,was called home to be with the Lord and her dear husband George, on Thursday morning April 15, 2004. Born June 11, 1912 in Lincoln County, WV. She was the daughter of the late Samuel L. and Libby Ashworth Dent. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded by 4 Sisters: Effie Pack, Emma Fulton, Alpha Haynes, and Bertie Dent; 3 Brothers: Boyd, Victor, and Harold Dent.
Resting after many years of hard work on the farm and as a homemaker, caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A loving Christian mother and wife, she will long be remembered to her family and friends for her home baked banana nut bread, and her homemade cookies, pinto beans, and cornbread. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, and reading.
She is survived by: Daughter: Linda (Tom) Lear of Gallipolis; 2 Sons: James L. (Mary) French of Gallipolis and George B. (Nancy) French Jr. of Grove City; 2 Grandchildren: Scotty (Carla) French of Circleville and Patricia (Mike) McLain of Gallipolis; 4 Great Grandchildren: Scott and Logan French of Circleville, Richard Lee (Sarah) McLain of Columbus, and Jennifer (Steven) Swords of Gallipolis; 1 Great Great Grandchild: Chontelle of Gallipolis; 1 Sister: Ota Hager of Huntington; She also leaves behind her beloved cat Princess and many many friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 17, 2004 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home with Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Campaign Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. on Friday.
