William F. 'Bill' Vanco, age 91, of Gallipolis, died Monday May 31, 2004 at his residence. Born July 7, 1912 in Gallia County, he was the son of the late Emory and Rosie Swartz Vanco. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Edna Ward Vanco, by a son William Michael Vanco, by 3 brothers Joe, Andy, and Emory Vanco, and by 5 sisters Terry Byers, Anna Smith, Rosie Martin, Mary North, and Susie McAll.
Bill was a World War II Army Veteran, and a retired John Deere Farm Implement Dealer. He was a member of the Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107 and VFW #4464.
He is survived by: Daughter-in-law: Kim Vanco of Gallipolis; Granddaughter: Karen Renee Vanco of Gallipolis; Brother: John Vanco of Finley, Ohio; Sister: Judy Rothery of Palmetto, Florida; Nieces: Charlotte Christy of Circleville, Phyllis Russell of Bidwell, and Helen Brumfield of Gallipolis; Several other Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday June 4, 2004 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Monsignor William Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 7-9 P.M. There will be an Elks Memorial Service at 9 P.M. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Organizations.
