Sadie Blanche Straight Shaver, age 96, of Patriot, (the Waterloo Community), died Friday morning June 25, 2004 at Holzer Medical Center. Born February 18, 1908 in Ash County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Adam Tedder and the late Bessie Coldiron Tedder. In addition to her parents she was preceded by 2 husbands: Elva J. Straight and Leo Shaver; and infant daughter: Evelyn Straight; 2 brothers: Claude and Donald Tedder; and by 1 Grandchild.
Sadie was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She greatly enjoyed playing the piano, flower gardening, and sending and receiving greeting cards. Two of her favorite things wer fish sandwiches, and wearing her red shoes, but most of all, she loved her family. She was a member of Flagg Springs Methodist Church.
She is survived by: 5 Children: Elladean (Paul) Mitchell of Patriot, Polly Jenkins of Chesapeake, Ronnie (Rosalee) Straight of Oak Hill, Lawana (Brian) Bostic of Patriot, and Sherry (Eldon) Paugh of Milton, WV; 13 Grandchildren including a special granddaughter Lori Hawks; 16 Great Grandchildren; and 3 Great Great Grandchildren; A special son-in-law: Paul Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday June 27, 2004 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home with Jan Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Flagg Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from Noon until time of service.
