James Halliday 'Jim' Hanson, age 82, of Gallipolis passed away Saturday July 31, 2004 at Holzer Medical Center. Born November 24, 1921 in Gallipolis, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fred and Frances Dillon Hanson. In addition to his parents he was preceded by 1 Son, William F. Hanson and by 1 Brother, Charles Burt Hanson.
Jim retired in 1987 from Kyger Creek Plant as a Results Engineer. He was a member of the St. Peters Episcopal Church, the Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107, and was a World War II Army Veteran.
He is survived by Wife: Dorthy Margaret Laufer Hanson, of Gallipolis, whom he married on July 20, 1946 in Russell, Kentucky; 2 Daughters: Carel (Bud) Blank, and Maria (Rick) Boone, both of Gallipolis; 1 Son: James (Sheila) Hanson of Tennessee; 9 Grandchildren: Emily (Mark) Bragg, Christopher (Stephanie) Blank, Andy Blank, Amanda (Shane) Browning, Michael Blank, David Hanson, Ryan Boone, PFC Wm. Tyler Boone, and Olivia Boone; 4 Great Grandchildren: Trevor Blank, Isaac Blank, Abbey Bragg, and Sidney Bragg; Daughter-n-law: Joyce Hanson Nichols of Gallipolis.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday August 14, 2004 at St. Peters Episcopal Church with Rev. Rebecca Michelfelder, Rev. Marie Mulford, and Rev. Ray Hage officiating. Burial will be 4:00 P.M. Saturday in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. There will be no visitation. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Organizations. In lieu of flowers, please make contribuitions to St. Peters Episcopal Church, Holzer Hospice, or Bossard Memorial Library. Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
