Marlin G. Kerns, age 79, of Gallipolis, died Saturday evening September 4, 2004 at his residence. Born December 30, 1924 in Harrison Township, Gallia County, he was the son of the late Garrett and Jessie Boster Kerns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his second wife, Janice Frasher Kerns.

Marlin was a retired banker, and a United States Army Veteran, having served in the Pacific durin World War II. His memberships included: Grace United Methodist Church, VFW, DAV, Morning Dawn Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Shrine Temple, and the Gallipolis Shrine Club.

Marlin is survived by his first Wife: Marceline Kerns of Gallipolis, and to this union was born 2 Children: David (Jeanie) Kerns of Gallipolis, and Jennifer (Jay) Rudzinski of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; 6 Grandchildren: Karen (Mike) Guisinge of Lancaster, Kristen Kerns of Greensboro, NC, Kimberly Kerns of Bidwell, Anna Rudzinski of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Jessica Young of Gallipolis, and Sarah Young of Gallipolis; 1 Great Granddaughter: Megan Guisinger of Lancaster; A Special Nephew: T. J. Frasher of Columbus.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday September 10, 2004 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-9 P. M. Masonic services will be conducted at the funeral home at 9:00 P. M. Thursday by Morning Dawn Lodge #7. Military Funeral Honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Organizations. Pallbearers will be: Don Mink, Herb Smith, John Smith, Steve Short, Harold Thompson, and Steve Ferrell. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ron Calhoun, Bobby Gordon, Ronald Crawford, Jim Mink and T. J. Frasher. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospitals 3229 Burnet Ave. Cincinnati, Ohio 45229-3095.
