Emily Blanche Webb Kemp, age 75, of Gallipolis, died Tuesday October 26, 2004 at her residence. Born August 8, 1929 in Augusta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lila Avera Webb. In addition to her parents she was preceded by a cousin, Julian Webb.
She was a graduate of the University of Georgia, and received her Masters degree from Ohio University. Emily was a retired teacher, whose career spanned over 50 years. For many of those years she taught at Gallia Academy High School. In addition to her teaching, she was a loving and caring mother to her four children. She also enjoyed music and reading. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gallipolis.
She is survived by her Husband: Dr. James Kemp, who she married on December 28, 1948 in Augusta, Georgia, along with her four Children: Dr. James Alan Kemp of Boston, Dr. Judith Dianne Kemp of Belpre, Dr. Ernest Brian (Susan C.) Kemp of Knoxville, and Mae Kathryn Kemp (Jeff) Sauers, of Mooresville, NC. She is also surved by two Grandchildre: Elizabeth and Henry Kemp; and by a Special Caregiver: Melissa Ann Ferrell.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday October 29, 2004 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home, with Pastor Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to services. People may choose to send donations to The Gallia County Animal Welfare League or to the Bossard Memorial Library. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Gene Abels, Dr. Gerald Vallee, Roger Broyles, and Glen Litman.
