Harold R. Provens, age 93, 'Went To Be With The Lord' after a brief illness, on NOvember 1, 2004 at Holzer Medical Center. He is survived by his Wife of 66 years, Betty Lou Keller Provens, 3 Sons: Tom Provens of Thurman, Dale E. and Garold Provens both of Columbus; 8 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: Hollis Provens of Hilliard, and 2 Sisters: Ethel Fry of Columbus, and Juanita Buskirk of Springfield.
Harold was preceded by his Parents: Grover and Cora Sheets Provens, by 1 Grandchild: Kelly Sue Provens, 4 Brothers: Jasper, Willard, Moreland, and Eugene Provens; 4 Sisters: Virg Robertson, Estell Hinkle, Florence Provens, and one who died in infancy.
Harold served his county during World War II, serving in the United States Army. He was a life long resident of Mudsoc and operated a farm there for 50 years. He drove a school bus for the Gallia County Local Schools for many years. He retired from the Gallipolis State Institute in 1967.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral home with Pastors Ron Nicholas and Phillip Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday fro 6-8 P.M. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Gallia County Veterans Organizations. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
