Walter 'Ray' Wedemeyer Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1929 - 2005

Walter 'Ray' Wedemeyer, age 75, of Bidwell, died Thursday morning March 24, 2005 at the home of his son in Bidwell. Born August 4, 1929 in Cadmus, he was the son of the late Walter and Amy Reese Wedemeyer. He was a graduate of Cadmus High School.

Ray retired from the Gallipolis Developmental Center as the Director of Fire and Safety in 1985. He retired with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the New Life Lutheran Church. Ray also was a member and past master of the Patriot Masonic Lodge #496, and had received his 50-year member pin.

He is survived by his Wife: Janice Tyler Wedemeyer, who he married on February 11, 1978 in Parisburg, Virginia. Also surving are 4 Children: Alden Wedemeyer of Bidwell, Lee (Colleen) Wedemeyrer of Marion, Alan (Debbie) Harris of Thomasville, NC, and Elizabeth Jane Harris of Bidwell; 9 Grandchildren: Jessica Wedemeyer, Amanda Lawson, Emily Lawson, Zac (Ashley) Harris, Chad Harris, Kayla Harris, TR Wedemeyer, Karl Wedemeyer, and Derick Wedemeyer; 2 Brothers: John 'Jack' (Maureen) Wedemeyer of Phoenix, AZ and Marlin (Donna) Wedemeyer of Rio Grande; 1 Sister: Lottie Lou (Joe) Long of Gallipolis, a Sister and Brother in law: Jane Ann (Don) Burns of Wilkesville; 2 Brother and Sister in Laws: Lee (Francis) Tyler of Charlotte, NC, and Francis (Mary) Tyler of Vinton. Also survived by several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 26, 2005 at the New Life Lutheran Church, with Pastors John Jackson and Ross Worch officiating. Entombment will follow at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the New Life Lutheran Church on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. Masonic services will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Friday at the church. Pallbearers will be: Zac Harris, Chad Harris, Karl Wedemeyer, Derick Wedmeyer, TR Wedemeyer, and Don Burns. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the New Life Lutheran Church Building Fund, 170 New Life Way Gallipolis, Ohio 45631 or to Holzer Hospice of 100 Jackson Pike Gallipolis, Ohio 45631.
