James David 'Jim' Long, age 74, of Gallipolis, died at his residence on Friday evening April 1, 2005. Born on May 4, 1930 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late Mose and Virgie Ford Long. He also was preceded in death by a son Colin Long; one sister Mildred Pitts; three brothers Wilburn, Clifford and Earl Long; and one Granddaughter.
He was a retired Machine Mechanic for the Riverwood Corp. in Bakersfield, CA. A Veteran of the United States Army who served in the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion #23, VFW#4464, The DAV, AMVETS, and Conservation Club. He also drove the van transporting Veterans to the VA Hospital for over 8 years.
He is survived by his Wife: Betty Hammond Long of Gallipolis; Children: Deborah (leroy) Stefanski of Hazel Park, MI, James David (Dawn) Long Jr. of Shelby Township, MI, Kyle Long of CA, and Kelly Long of CA; 6 Grandchildren; 1 Brother: Carl (Joan) Long of Sterling, LA; and 1 Sister: Bea Murphy of FL.
Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday April 5, 2005 at the Masusoleum Chapel at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens with Rev. Alfred Holley officiating. Military Funeral Honors will be presented at chapel by the Gallia County Veterans Organizations.
